A Hedonistic Bar Original

Station 8

As most any firefighter knows, where there is smoke, there is usually fire.  That holds true for this cocktail that I created to honor those first responders who work long and hard to protect us all.
2 ounces High West Campfire Whiskey
1 ounce Carpano Antica
¼ ounce Heering cherry liqueur
½ dropper Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla bitters

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir gently until well chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.  Garnish by flaming a zest of lemon into the cocktail.

Cheers!

Earth Day or Snow Day?

Today is Earth Day, a day we would normally be seeing green grass and early Spring flowers nodding their heads in the breeze. Unfortunately, all of us at the Hedonistic Bar are bracing for a 6-10 inch snowstorm tonight! This is not so much Spring Fever weather but Cabin Fever "Oh my gosh, get me outta here" weather. In order to tame these desperate thoughts of escape to milder climates we've become quite adept at discovering getaways within a few minutes drive.
One of our favorite places to go to inject a little vibrancy in our day is Eat Street Social. Here you can indulge in so many tastes you will soon forget the dreary outside weather. The large windows at the front beckon you to come in and investigate the dark interior. As you cross the threshold you face the bar which is the most prominent feature of the room. We prefer to grab seats there so we can watch the bartenders craft cocktails and soda fountain treats.
Our personal preference is to go during hours when traffic is slightly lighter so we have the chance to linger without displacing other potential patrons. It also gives us the opportunity to engage the bartenders about their recommendations and bar techniques. We have been to ESS in the later hours when the restaurant is busting at the seams both with people and noise. If you are more of a casual, take your time and hang out in a mild atmosphere person - check out ESS in off peak hours. If you get your kicks from being in the middle of a giant party - go in the evenings to join the crowd.
The Hedonists enjoy splitting plates and cocktails in order to maximize the number of tastes we get to enjoy. We believe in responsible enjoyment of spirits so instead of each person kicking back 3 or more cocktails, everyone orders one and passes it around to their companions to take a sip. For our designated sober driver, they don't have to miss out on the deliciousness of the ESS bar, there is the soda fountain. The Orange Dream makes us think of Summer days and Dreamsicle ice cream bars.....mmmm......

Cocktail to Try

Despite this weeks weather, we at The Hedonistic Bar are looking forward to warmer weather.  Here is a light refreshing drink perfect for spring and summer weather. It has a nice tart flavor for people that are fans of something a little sharp in taste.

Gin & Sin
1 oz. Plymouth gin
1 oz. fresh lemon juice (we prefer Meyer lemons)
1 tbs. fresh orange juice
1 dash of grenadine

Combine all ingredients and shake with ice.  Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a thin lime wedge.

Cheers!

Defined

Hedonism is defined as "Pursuit of or devotion to pleasure, especially to the pleasure of the senses"

Glad you could join us at the bar

Welcome to The Hedonistic Bar!

You've probably found your way here either through word of mouth or because you thought hedonistic meant something super naughty. We're happy to have you visit and peruse our pages no matter what brought you to our corner of the world.

So who are we? We are mortals embarking on a journey to maximize our pleasure through great food and drink. Those pleasures come in many forms, for some it is Jack and Diet Mountain Dew, for others a double of Bushmills 16yr makes them salivate and go weak in the knees. The Hedonistic Bar doesn't judge! We want you to enjoy those things that make your heart race and knees tremble.

The Hedonists are here to be your source for recipes, reviews, news and information. We hope you join us on this journey of pleasure. Have an open mind and stay awhile, we promise to treat you so many ways that you are bound to like one of them....

Cheers!
